Description

The postgraduate programme of professional accounting provides an opportunity for you to gain an in-depth understanding of the theory and practice of accounting and finance. Upon graduation, you will be capable of critically evaluating financial conditions, and completing applied research independently. All courses are taught in English except for Chinese modules. The dissertation and oral defense are also applied in English.

Applicant Qualifications

1. Foreign citizen, with a degree of undergraduate programme, aged from 18 to 50, in good physical and mental health.

2. For those who have given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens, the requirements set by the Ministry of Education of the PRC should be met.

5. Certificate of English proficiency (TOEFL: 550/written examination, 80/computer-based testing, IELTS 6.5)

6. Personal Statement. Personal Statement should be written in English, including education background, work experience, academic research achievements, research proposal, etc.

7. Two academic references in Chinese or English, provided by two associate professors or above certificated background.

Admission Process

1. Candidates would be enrolled after submitting all required materials. 

2. Upon verification, Beijing International Studies University will send “Visa Application Form for Study in China” and “University Admission Notice” to the selected candidates before July 31st.

3. Applicants having the above-mentioned two documents and the health examination certificate are supposed to apply for the Student Visa at the nearest Chinese embassy or Chinese consulate.

Fees

1. Application fee: RMB 800(cash, postal remittance or bank transfer)

2. Tuition fee: RMB 30,000 per academic year

3. Insurance: RMB 800 per academic year

4. Accommodation fee*: RMB 8,100-14,850 per academic year, person, and bed (double room with a bathroom in the international student dormitory)

1. Objectives

1.1 Students have an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of accounting and finance from this programme. Upon graduation, students will be capable of critically evaluating financial statement information, comparing different investment policies and making financial decisions.

1.2 Students will be capable of critical thinking and completing applied research independently.

2. Duration

Two years.

3. Credit requirement

3.1 To apply master degree of professional accounting, student must earn 43 credits or above in this program. The detailed distribution of credits is in the curriculum.

3.2 Student must participate in practices for one month and write the summary report (worth 7 credits).

3.3 Student must submit the dissertation and pass the oral defence of the dissertation (worth 4 credits).

4. Dissertation

4.1 The dissertation demonstrates that the applicant has the ability to independently undertake academic research by innovative thinking.

4.2 The dissertation is independently completed by student under the guidance of the supervisor. 

4.3 The dissertation topic is significantly related to the development and practice of accounting and finance. The dissertation topic is confirmed and submitted in the fourth semester with the approval of the supervisor.

4.4 Student submits a research proposal for proposed dissertation title. The proposal includes research motivation both in academic and practice, research objective, research contribution, research method and the framework for research.

4.5 Student completes a more than 20,000-word dissertation (about 20,000 words in main body and 500-800 words in summary). 

4.6 The dissertation is required to have a clear theme with accurate description, thoughtful logical thinking with well-organized and appropriate language in the light of the rule of academic ethics.

4.7 Student submits the dissertation one month before the oral defence.

Master of Toursim Management (MTM) in English

Course Introduction

The Master of Tourism Management (MTM) in English program provided by School of Tourism Management of Beijing International Studies University(BISU) has been open to International Students since 2007. Up till now there have been over 200 international students  from more than 40 countries studying in BISU.

Except for the Chinese language courses, all of the other courses in the program are taught in English. The thesis and the thesis defense are also conducted in English.

Applicant Qualifications

In the age bracket of 18-50 in good health, holding undergraduate diploma; Residents of Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan who apply for IMBA program as foreign students after immigrating abroad need to meet the requirements of the relevant documents of the Ministry of Education.

13. Convenient Transportation

Urban public transportation means in Beijing are mainly  subway, the bus and the taxi.

The Beijing Subway Systems run almost everywhere in Beijing, and at present, there are Line 1, Line 2, Line 5, Batong, Line 13, Line 10, Olympic Area Line, and Airport Express, etc.. Usually, the fastest and most convenient way of travel and go around in the city is to take the subway first and take the bus or taxi for your destination. The nearest subway station to BISU is the Communication University of China on the Batong Line. The station is about 800 meters west of the South Gate.

There are bus stops outside both south gate and north gate of BISU.

14. Visa

a)According to Chinese law, students holding an X1 visa must apply for a Residence Permit within 30days upon entry into China. Otherwise he/she will be responsible for all the consequences, including a fine of a maximum amount of CNY10,000, or being deported for illegal residence. Students with an X1 visa should contact the International Student Affairs Office upon arrival to conduct the Residence Permit application in a timely manner.

b)All students holding an X1 visa must have a physical examination done. Any physical examination is only valid for 6months. Students who have already taken physical examinations should bring a full set of the original medical reports for verification. The verification fee is CNY60.If you cannot have the examination done before leaving your home country, you may have it done in Beijing. The cost is about CNY400.、

15. Health Insurance

Students who plan to study in China for no less than one semester are required to purchase medical insurance covering accidental injuries, serious illnesses and hospitalization. China Ping An Insurance Company offers group Comprehensive Insurance which covers accidental injuries and hospitalization. Each individual of the group needs to pay CNY 800 for one year . Each of the insured students will be given an Insurance Card. The Card should be properly kept. In times of necessary medical treatment, the insured student should call the 24-hour service line, 400-810-5119 or 010-67185217 for assistance before going to the doctor.
